TOOL & BAD BOYS Short, Short Ebooks |
Tuesday, April 10, 2007 The Pearl, A Magazine of Facetiae and Voluptuous Reading, 1879-1880 The Pearl The Pearl, "A Magazine of Facetiae and Voluptuous Reading" was an underground publication of erotica that had a short run between 1879 and 1880. I found out about the mag a few years back and featured it in one of the historical scenes from Again. Now, it is featured online in its entirety and offers such titillating prose as "Miss Coote's Confession", "Lady Pokingham", "La Rose D'Amour", and "Flunkeyania" (interesting title). The mag also offered up a round of bawdy poetry and short stories. Hardly what you would expect from starchy Victorians. For the curious, check out The Pearl. Labels: Potpourri
