Monday, December 08, 2008  Shelve this under "WTF?" Merrill CEO Thain seeks $10 million bonus. And what exactly did Thain do to earn this proposed bonus? Suggested that the takeover by Bank of America would be in the shareholder's best interest. Basically, that's it. And he figures that is worth $10mm. Which goes to show that those long insulated by wealth are hard put to feel the painful prick of reality that others suffer. In Merrill Lynch's favor, its compensation board is resisting the bonus request, given that America is in an unemployment crisis and an actual recession, the worst we've seen in forty years. November's numbers alone (half a million jobs lost) are the worst in thirty years. And in the midst of all of this caca created by the financial sector, Thain thinks he stands above the rest of us. Word to Thain: F*ck you! Labels: WTF
