TOOL & BAD BOYS Short, Short Ebooks |
Wednesday, April 12, 2006 Ironies never cease Just when you think Mike Brown, the former disgraced FEMA head, is going to fade into the woodwork, here he comes bounding back into the news. This latest chapter in the Katrina fallout is beyond ironic. It seems St. Bernard Parish in Louisiana is looking for help in recovering from Katrina's devastation. So far, only a few businesses are open and the parish is having trouble getting back on its feet. Well, who rides in claiming he can be of assistance? That’s right – the same Michael Brown, who has been diddling these past months as a "consultant." He swears, proposal in hand, that he can help revive the devastated parish by bringing much needed publicity. And even more mind-boggling, the parish council is actually willing to sit down and hear him out. Council member Henry Rodriguez, with whom Brown met with recently in Washington, says he would be willing to talk with the devil himself if it could get the parish up and running again. Well, Brown may not be the devil, but he very well might be a minion. Anyway, Brown is slated to pitch to the full council. Which begs the question: when has incompetency, insensitivity and befuddled ignorance been selling points for a consultant? Per USA Today.
