Friday, May 26, 2006 OK, I don't watch American Idol...  ...but I would have to be living somewhere in the subterranean of the Saharan Desert not to have heard about the showdown between Taylor Hick (prematurely gray at 29) and Katharine McPhee (nice smile). Anyway, obviously I should have tuned into the finale because the show presented a surprise guest in the form of none other than his royal purple liege, Prince himself who performed a couple of songs. Obviously, from the video I watched, his appearance was unannounced given the surprised screams of the audience when Prince showed up on stage. All I can say is that the man does not age. Surprisingly, the luminaries take this show seriously. I have heard that Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, Luther Vandross (miss you), Stevie Wonder and even more have visited the show. Maybe I should start tuning in to see what all the fuss is about. Anyway, for those of you who missed the finale, Gossipish.com provides a video featuring the Prince performance. See it here. He still has the moves. Uhmm...
