First chapter in a possibly future novel...

I'm considering doing a serial (mystery/historical romance) featuring an Af-Am female detective named Livia Delacourt in 19th century Chicago. She covertly works with the Pinkerton Agency, going undercover. Two additional recurring characters will be the handsome owners of an exclusive brothel, one white, the other Asian. Of course, sexual tension will be par for the course.
