TOOL & BAD BOYS Short, Short Ebooks |
Saturday, October 01, 2005 Talk about luck ! Or call it a good turn by providence, if you will. The likelihood of an author being discovered by a major publisher on the internet is next to nil, as so many industry people will warn neophyte authors. Usually an approach by an unsolicited agent or publisher turns out to be a scam. Not so in the case of Cherie Priest, who can count herself among the fortunate few actually to be legitimately discovered. The author syndicated her tale, Four and Twenty Blackbirds, on her Livejournal and an editor from Tor came knocking. Now Ms. Priest has a three-book deal, some good reviews from Booklist, Kirkus, Publishers Weekly and author Charles de Lint. Best-selling author Heather Graham is just one of the authors on Ms. Priest's blurb list. Then there's the upcoming interview with a television affiliate who contacted the author (usually it's the other way around). Not to mention various plugs on some very influential blogs, including Boing Boing. All of this and a spike in her Amazon numbers indicate that Ms. Priest will be on the radar for a while. To quote from When Harry Met Sally: "I'll have what she's having."
