Meet Kiera "Kay" Unemo

She's my alter on planet Calypso. Actually, she's my avatar in the Entropia Universe, a multiplayer game I just joined. Setting Entropia apart from other virtual games is its "real cash economy" where game money has actual cash value and can be withdrawn into real cash. The game money are called PEDs and one PED is equivalent to a tenth of a dollar.

Entropia got a lot of attention a while back when a virtual island on the game was put up for auction on Ebay and someone actually chalked over
265,00 PED ($26,500). The island was touted as "a large island off a newly discovered continent surrounded by deep creature infested waters. The island boasts beautiful beaches ripe for developing beachfront property, an old volcano with rumors of fierce creatures within, the outback is overrun with mutants, and an area with a high concentration of robotic miners guarded by heavily armed assault robots indicates interesting mining opportunities." (quote from Wikipedia). Don't even ask me why someone would spend a cent on a virtual island, I don't care if it does boast beautiful beaches and is overrun with mutants.

Those starting out without funds can either collect fruit, animal dung or the more valuable animal sweat to sell to other players. The sweat is used to make the much wanted mind essence. The problem with gathering animal sweat is that the "animals" look like the one below.

Yeah, you try collecting animal sweat from this mutha (which is just one of the horrendous species inhabiting the planet)! I got my ass killed a few times doing just that after which I had to be resurrected at the nearest "terminal" which is the home center that carries the avatar's DNA and can recreate the corporeal body each time. And these muthas know they can chase you down. I found myself with my finger glued to the "R" key which makes your avatar run and run and run. I even dived into a river (which was supposed to drown them). Hell naw. They chased me down and I made the mistake of turning around thinking they had given up. I literally screamed to see how close up on me they were.

So, in other words, I don't think I'll be getting rich from this game anytime soon.
