Monday, January 29, 2007 Yea Serena! Serena took down Sharapova against obstensibly overwhelming odds at the Australian Open to the surprise of nearly everyone. After recent lackluster performances, Serena was considered by many in the tennis world to have lost her edge. But during this game, she carried some extra ammunition in her pocket: the name of her deceased sister written on a piece of paper. She dedicated the Open to Yetunde Price, murdered in 2003 in a drive-by shooting near her California home. It's amazing that Serena could have ever been considered an under-dog, but we should have known better than to rule her out. She showed us she still has "it" as she kicked ass and proved she is not out of the game by a long shot. Read more about the amazing game at EurWeb.com and watch her in action below.
