TOOL & BAD BOYS Short, Short Ebooks |
Saturday, June 02, 2007 Is this a new literary genre? Commit a crime and then write about it, as in the case of Michelle Fletcher, who has written a novelization about her crimes of identity theft and credit card fraud, for which she served only 2 1/2 years in prison and a half-way house. Makes you wonder whether crime does pay when you read that Ms. Fletcher has already sold 10,000 copies of her book, a "gritty tale of a headstrong woman who took what she wanted -- in this case, a slew of bodacious jewelry and Manolo Blahniks." Although she may be selling her books, she's still a long way from affording her previous ill-gotten lifestyle, the one where she and her husband built a Prince George, MD home with a 13-aisle closet (filled with 1,000 shoes), several plasma television sets, and both a Mercedes and Lexus sitting out front. Ms. Fletcher is now making the promo television circuit in which she advises how to avoid becoming the victim of credit card fraud. One enthusiastic TV host urged her audience to go buy Fletcher's book - but to use cash instead. Just one of those things that make you go hmmm. Labels: Potpourri
