Sunday, April 20, 2008 Original character concept Like many authors, I conceive in my head how my characters should look, and I literally spend hours mining the Internet to find pics that approximate these physical concepts. The character pics help me pen their stories, imagine them in scenes. And, of course, my concepts never jibe with the covers of my books. For example, I thought I had picked the perfect Tyne until my agent sent me the original cover for AGAIN; I have to admit I was totally floored with how wrong I was, b/c that cover was absolutely gorgeous. Lately, I've been going through some old files and came across the pics for my various stories, and it brought back the original character concepts I had, and how quickly they were shelved away in my mind as the books became reality. Anyway, here are the characters I originally pictured. Compare them to their present cover incarnations to see how very far apart my ideas were from the publisher's.
