So here's the Spanish translation of AGAIN blurb along with cover pic:

Título Original: Again
Editorial / Fecha: Kesington / Abril 2006

Original character concept

Like many authors, I conceive in my head how my characters should look, and I literally spend hours mining the Internet to find pics that approximate these physical concepts. The character pics help me pen their stories, imagine them in scenes. And, of course, my concepts never jibe with the covers of my books. For example, I thought I had picked the perfect Tyne until my agent sent me the original cover for AGAIN; I have to admit I was totally floored with how wrong I was, b/c that cover was absolutely gorgeous.

Lately, I've been going through some old files and came across the pics for my various stories, and it brought back the original character concepts I had, and how quickly they were shelved away in my mind as the books became reality. Anyway, here are the characters I originally pictured. Compare them to their present cover incarnations to see how very far apart my ideas were from the publisher's.

Guest blogging at Bams

Don't worry Bam, I am putting this up right now. :-) Dionne Galace, affectionately known as Bam, asked me to guest blog at her site and is offering giveaways of both Again and TOOL to commentors. Again, I appreciate her and Alyssa for giving me the promo because I definitely need it. So go check my post on writing outside the box and post comments to win free books.

Interview

Alyssa over at By the Book kindly requested an interview with me about Again and TOOL and the madness that is my writing method. She's posted the interview at her blog. I had to sheepishly admit that my writing habits are over the place, but I'm hoping to bring that under control - one day. Procrastination, thy name is Sharon.

PS: I did find a wonderful write-up on Again by Michelle at Inkalicious via the comments for the interview. That I hadn't read it before means Google is not doing its job because I do an ego search at least twice a day (I know, I need help). :-)

Song for AGAIN

AGAIN cover model Nahisha came across songwriter/musician Matt Cusson on MySpace and is digging his song,"Once Upon a Time." She says the lyrics are on point for the plot of AGAIN, where two souls reunite after departure. I scoped his page: beautiful voice and songs, as is he. But for some reason, he hasn't been picked up by a label. Hope that oversight is remedied soon. Check him out.

Her name's Nahisha

She's the cover model for AGAIN. It's nice to finally put a name to the fabulous face. She found me over at MySpace and left me a message introducing herself. Turns out not only is she a model, but she also sings. And yes, she's going to check out my book. So go check out her page.

Got audio!

Scottie Lowe of AfroerotiK.com graciously agreed to do an audio excerpt from AGAIN. She has such a seductive voice, I had to ask and was so glad when she said yes. I had a harder time finding a way to upload the file she sent me to the internet, but finally found an MP3 player to put on MySpace and my website. I've also placed it on the sidebar for the blog.

To hear the excerpt, click the arrow below (Warning: Erotic Content):

Missed this one

One of the things we authors look for is any write-up about our works, which usually means a lot of Googling. Trust me, Google was my best friend last year when AGAIN first came out. I was eager to read, good (or bad because any write-up is still a write-up), anything about my novel. But for some reason, I didn't find this article by Black Issues Book Review which listed AGAIN as one of the best reads for summer 2006. I truly wished I had found this last year, but it's still good to know (although they misspelled my imprint Bravo; should be Brava).

New author site

With a novel and novella coming out in the spring, I decided last year to update my author site and to have it professionally done. With the layoff, that plan went south, so I decided to do the new site myself and have registered my name sharoncullars.com as the domain (it's still pending). Although I'm sort of proficient with HTML, I'm still learning CSS, but had some fun with it, anyway.

If you want to take a peek before everything goes live, you can view the new site at the temporary link below. It's simplistic, but hopefully it does what it is supposed to do, which is to keep my readers informed about what's happening with my books, present and future. And oh yeah, it tells a little about me, too.

Take a peek at the new site. Comments welcome.

Thanks Gary!

Author Gary Braunbeck included AGAIN on his Best Books of 2006 list. I'm so stoked because Gary is a phenomenal writer. His short story, "We Now Pause for Station Identification" was recently optioned to be made into a short film by Adelstein Productions, one of the producers of Fox's Prison Break (by the way, Wentworth Miller is yummm; have thought so since first seeing him in Buffy's "Go Fish" ep). Anyway, the film will make the film festival circuit and hopefully bring Gary many kudos.

Here's what Gary says about AGAIN:

"If you're one of these folks who have avoided reading so-called "Paranormal Romance" novels because you think all they are is bodice-rippers with ghosts, no single book could more prove you wrong than Cullars's luminous, eloquent debut novel. Reading like a collaboration between Toni Morrison and Jack Finney, Again announces the arrival of a fresh, distinct voice, telling a story that is romantic, sensual (in the dictionary sense of the word), frightening, genuinely erotic, heartbreaking and, ultimately, life-affirming, with a final line that is pitch-perfect -- as is the rest of this lovely, heartfelt, deeply affecting novel."

Thanks Gary. Right back atcha for all of your eloquent and moving stories.
