The Object of Love - In Spanish
Last October, I told you that the foreign rights for TOOL had been sold to both Brazil and Spain. Today I found a PDF excerpt of Objecto de Amor. For those of you who can read Spanish, take a peek. I wonder what the cover looks like, though.
Update: Hah, found it! Smoldering...although Lacey doesn't quite look like I pictured her...

Original character conceptLike many authors, I conceive in my head how my characters should look, and I literally spend hours mining the Internet to find pics that approximate these physical concepts. The character pics help me pen their stories, imagine them in scenes. And, of course, my concepts never jibe with the covers of my books. For example, I thought I had picked the perfect Tyne until my agent sent me the original cover for AGAIN; I have to admit I was totally floored with how wrong I was, b/c that cover was absolutely gorgeous. Lately, I've been going through some old files and came across the pics for my various stories, and it brought back the original character concepts I had, and how quickly they were shelved away in my mind as the books became reality. Anyway, here are the characters I originally pictured. Compare them to their present cover incarnations to see how very far apart my ideas were from the publisher's. Just popping inReal life has been keeping me from blogging, but hopefully I'll be back in full swing soon. In the meantime, a bit of good news regarding TOOL; my editor, Hilary Sares, emailed me the other day to let me know that the foreign rights have been sold to both Spain and Brazil. Late posting - contestI meant to post this earlier, but better late than never. Alyssa over at By the Blog reviewed TOOL and has been running a contest giving away a copy; the deadline is today, and she's picking a winner tomorrow so there's still a chance to sign up. I appreciate her efforts, so thanks Alyssa. Labels: Contests, The Object of Love

InterviewAlyssa over at By the Book kindly requested an interview with me about Again and TOOL and the madness that is my writing method. She's posted the interview at her blog. I had to sheepishly admit that my writing habits are over the place, but I'm hoping to bring that under control - one day. Procrastination, thy name is Sharon. PS: I did find a wonderful write-up on Again by Michelle at Inkalicious via the comments for the interview. That I hadn't read it before means Google is not doing its job because I do an ego search at least twice a day (I know, I need help). :-) Labels: Again, The Object of Love

Hey, hey! Just found out that The Romantic Times has given The Object of Love four stars. The page is here, although I don't have a subscription and don't have access to the full review. When I do, I'll update this post. Update: My editor, Hilary Sares, emailed me the text of the review as well as the text for Bad Boys with Roses. Here they are: The Object of Love:"The spellbinding story of love and deception spans a lifetime and spills over into the ever-after. Readers will be spooked by the ghost, haunted by his past, and uncertain about his future. Sympathy pours out for the grieving mother who works through in a most erotic way. Cullars' new romance moves solidly forward from the unexpected opening hook to the happily ever after." SUMMARY: Unable to forgive himself for his past sins, Calvin Burnham can't cross over when he dies. As his mother, Lucy (sic; s/b Lacey), and his ex-best friend, Sean, grow close, Calvin's rage strengthens within him until he is able to reach the living world. Resentment and rejection fuel his desire to destroy Sean and keep his own secrets safe, but will it be at the expense of his soul? --Jennifer Madsen, RT, four stars (HOT) Bad Boys with Red Roses: This anthology has a trio of love stories in which three couples overcome relationships gone awry and take hold of their second chances. Denison starts the book with a sexy, swift-moving story of reunited high school sweethearts, and Donahue keeps the pace with sexual tension. But it's Cullars who really shines by adding a touch of danger and a paranormal presence. SUMMARY: (for "The Invitation") Jeralyn has almost no memory of her life before her parents died, but when a blast from her past surfaces and tells her she's in grave danger, she must decide who to trust in Cullars' gripping "The Invitation." --Jennifer Madsen RT, three stars Labels: Bad Boys with Roses, The Object of Love

First review for TOOL Dionne Galace over at It's Not Chick Porn gave TOOL a B+, which I take to mean that she likes it. :-) She did have problems with some of the narrative, wished the plot was tighter, but overall she had nothing but good things to say about it. So go check out the review. Labels: The Object of Love

The Object of Love... ... (formerly christened DENIAL and affectionately called TOOL by me) is now available at Amazon for pre-ordering. Gotta love the tagline: His passion. Her desire...
Here's the blurb:
THE OBJECT OF LOVE (Brava, May,07) In Sharon Cullars’ dazzling new novel, two unlikely lovers give in to explosive desire. But guilt and long-buried secrets could destroy their future before it begins… It’s been five years since Lacey Burnham saw Sean Logan, and in that time her son Calvin’s best friend has turned from a surly youth into a handsome, self-assured young man. Crushed with grief over Cal’s sudden death, Lacey offers Sean a place to stay while he’s in town—an innocent proposal that quickly becomes anything but. Lacey is stunned and confused by the yearning he ignites with a single kiss... Beautiful, warmhearted Lacey Burnham was a haven of comfort in Sean’s troubled youth. Now, against every shred of logic she possesses, Lacey is falling hard for Sean and for a heady carnal bliss she’s never experienced before. But the ghosts of the past are waiting. And sooner or later, every shadow must face the light of day… Labels: The Object of Love
