Monday, April 24, 2006 Retaliation or just desserts? Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin might have thought she was getting a good dig in against a few Student Against War protestors at the University of Santa Cruz for daring to protest the war in Iraq. To show them what's what, she posted their personal information, including email and phone numbers, to her website, not even giving a thought (or maybe hopefully anticipating) that the lunatic fringe might start harassing the students. Well, this in fact happened. One protestor received about 500 hate email as well as 100 death threats. This is too horribly similar to the campaign some pro-lifers ran, posting personal information on abortion doctors, as though they hoped the fringe lunatics would come a-shooting. The students requested that Malkin remove the information, but she refused. Well, someone took severe umbrage at Ms. Malkin's tactics...and reciprocated. The party posted Malkin's personal information to a website, including her cellphone number and home address. And now Ms. Malkin is bitching about having to move her family to another location for safety reason. So, let me understand this - safety is unilateral only to conservatives, and liberals' safety can be damned? Did this woman not think of the lives or the families she placed in harm's way? I always assumed that people are equal no matter their race, creed, color, religion or political affiliation - but obviously Ms. Malkin believes her privacy and safety are paramount to anyone who disagrees with her. Can you believe this shit? Yeah, you run Ms. Malkin and keep running. Maybe one day you'll outrun that mouth of yours.
