TOOL & BAD BOYS Short, Short Ebooks |
Thursday, December 08, 2005 Because there aren't enough stupid issues out there already... So now the rabid Christian conservatives have something else to "bah humbug" about - those godless holiday cards that leave out the word "Christmas" thus rendering the lord's birthday celebration nothing more than a secular day off from work. Notwithstanding Bush's many sins, it seems his sending out these cards has proven to his erstwhile Christian pals that he is no longer led of God. (Gee, I sorta got that feeling around the beginning of the war...) At least one recipient did more than bristle at the card; he threw away that godless missive of cheer and goodwill. Joseph Farah, editor of WorldNetDaily.com stated: Bush "claims to be a born-again, evangelical Christian. But he sure doesn't act like one...I threw out my White House card as soon as I got it." The Christian stalwarts claim that these cards are a sign of Bush's capitulating to the "worse elements of society." Uhm, I guess that would be all of you worshippers of religions that do not recognize Jesus as your lord and personal savior - you know Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, etc. These same conservatives are trying to pressure stores to advertise Christmas sales rather than "holiday specials" and urging schools to let students out for Christmas vacation rather than for "winter break." (To me, a sale is a sale, no matter what it's called; just so long as I get my 30% off.) I don't know. It seems to me with all the war, poverty, illness, and terrorism going on these days, holiday...ur, I mean Christmas...cards should be a low-priority issue. Or better yet, a NON-ISSUE. After all, retailers and Hallmark have been using the word "Holiday" for decades now. Why the sudden hot-button? These bozos sure know how to take the joy out of Xmas. Per The Washington Post.
